OXFORDSHIRE PARENTING FORUM
Small grants for parenting work

Over the last 18 months, the Oxfordshire Parenting Forum has reviewed its operations in light of the development of the Early Intervention Service Hubs and the resulting changes in service practices. Decisions have been made to refocus on our original purpose as a provider of practitioner support and promoting and sharing best practice, through a range of services such as our regular newsletter, training, seminars and networking opportunities. In line with these goals there will be one more opportunity to apply for funding to support your work in parenting education.

During recent years, OPF received funding from Early Years and from the OCC Joint Commissioning Team to provide financial support for parenting education at the grassroots level in the County. The money remaining in the various small grants funds is now being combined and made available to support further work with parents.

Providers of parenting education and support can apply for grants of up to £750.00 to support the following areas of work:

  • Providing parenting programmes with a sound evidence base, delivered by trained facilitators
  • Enabling parents with disabilities to access parenting education.
  • Promoting engagement with fathers and their involvement in parenting education
  • Developing an area network of parenting practitioners.
  • Supporting transition initiatives with parents of children moving into primary school / Foundation Stage or from primary to secondary school.
  • What you will need to ensure:
  • That funded parenting programmes are delivered by trained facilitators
  • That appropriate supervision is provided
  • That you can demonstrate how you will meet the needs of vulnerable families
  • That programmes are participative and respond flexibly to parents’ needs
  • That the proposed work has clear, stated Aims and Outcomes, and is evaluated in relation to these.
  • That you return to OPF the evaluation form provided, together with a record of your spending and receipt

  • What OPF can offer
As part of its commitment to practitioner support and to quality, OPF can provide support from experienced practitioners/mentors/supervisors in any of the following ways:
